About us - Teachers
Principal: Miss Sarah-Louise Ashworth
Sarah-Louise Ashworth started dancing at the age of 3 at the Kirkham School of dancing. At sixteen she went on to train at Laine Theatre Arts on the dance and musical theatre course where she gained her ISTD Ballet Associate teaching certificate in which she received Honours. She is also a qualified dance teacher of the IDTA and a mutually recognised teacher of the RAD. Sarah-Louise successfully passed her IDTA Licentiate Ballet with Honours in 2012.
Sarah-Louise has worked extensively as both a dancer & singer in both theatre and television. Highlights of her career include performing at the Queen Mother's 100th Birthday Celebrations - London and cruising the world as dance captain on the world famous QE2. Most recently she was asked to adjudicate for 'Festival 4 Stars'.
Singing Teacher: Em Whitfield-Brooks
Em is a professional singer, published songwriter, theatre and opera director and voice teacher who has been teaching singing and musical theatre, and directing shows, all over the UK since 1990.
She has led countless singing and performance projects in primary and secondary schools and taught jazz and pop singing to degree level. Em is one of the leading trainers of singing teachers in the country and worked for four years in this role for the national singing campaign Sing Up.
She leads choirs and community singing groups across the north, is founder/director of the Ryedale Festival Community Opera and performs regularly as one half of acclaimed vocal duo The Ruby Larks.
Drama Teacher: Audrie Woodhouse
Audrie Woodhouse is a Professional Actress and Performance Coach with more than ten years of teaching experience.
In her full and varied career as an actress she has enjoyed roles in Theatre, Film and Television. She has a diploma in Musical Theatre from LSMT at The Old Vic and a BA in Performing Arts from Middlesex University.
She most recently graduated from University of York with a Masters in Theatre: Writing, Directing and Performance for which she gained distinction and won the Outstanding Project Prize for Highest Achievement.
Miss Maxine Waller
Maxine started her wonderful journey in dance at the age of 3 years, she studied RAD Ballet, ISTD and IDTA Theatre syllabus obtaining her teaching qualifications in Ballet, tap, modern, jazz, musical theatre and drama and also acquired qualifications as an Exercise Referral Consultant, Yoga and Tai Chi Instructor and Personal trainer.
She has judged many dance and singing competitions, the latest being the UK National Finals for "Search for a Star" and has participated as a supporting artiste in numerous BBC and ITV television dramas. Maxine has choreographed, and directed many amateur and professional shows and performances.
Miss Kerry Whitfield
Kerry was born and raised in North Yorkshire. Following time spent as a J.A (Junior Associate of the Royal Ballet) and York Scholar, she continued her training in London at The Royal Ballet School, White Lodge for a further five years. After this time she developed her training further at London Studio Centre where she gained a Diploma of Higher Education in Theatre Dance.
Kerry has appeared as both a singer and dancer in many productions including numerous performances with The Royal Ballet School and production shows onboard Holland America cruise lines.
Kerry graduated with distinction at the Royal Academy of Dance, and now holds Registered Teacher Status with the RAD. She has also been acting as a mentor for the RAD BA (Hons) Ballet Education (BABE) level 5 and 6 students, and teaching on the RAD's international summer schools.
