About us - Teachers

Principal: Miss Sarah-Louise Ashworth

Sarah-Louise Ashworth started dancing at the age of 3 at the Kirkham School of dancing. At sixteen she went on to train at Laine Theatre Arts on the dance and musical theatre course where she gained her ISTD Ballet Associate teaching certificate in which she received Honours. She is also a qualified dance teacher of the IDTA and a mutually recognised teacher of the RAD.

Sarah-Louise has worked extensively as both a dancer & singer in both theatre and television. Highlights of her career include performing at the Queen Mother's 100th Birthday Celebrations - London and cruising the world as dance captain on the world famous QE2.

Dance Teacher: Miss Kirsty Ashworth

Kirsty Ashworth started her training at the Kirkham School of Dancing at the age of 2 years, taking part in numerous professional pantomimes & Shows. At sixteen she went to work professional on the Fred Olsen Cruise Lines cruising around the world. In addition to this Kirsty has worked extensively in both theatre and television on a large number of projects.

During her time at sea she worked for Fred Olsen, Page & Moy, Costa Cruise line to name but a few. Since returning to Yorkshire in 2007 Kirsty has gained her IDTA Ballet Associate teaching certificate in which she received Honours.

Singing Teacher: Em Whitfield-Brooks

Em is a professional singer, published songwriter, theatre and opera director and voice teacher who has been teaching singing and musical theatre, and directing shows, all over the UK since 1990.

She has led countless singing and performance projects in primary and secondary schools and taught jazz and pop singing to degree level. Em is one of the leading trainers of singing teachers in the country and worked for four years in this role for the national singing campaign Sing Up.

She leads choirs and community singing groups across the north, is founder/director of the Ryedale Festival Community Opera and performs regularly as one half of acclaimed vocal duo The Ruby Larks.

Drama Teacher: Audrie Woodhouse

Audrie Woodhouse is a Professional Actress and Performance Coach with more than ten years of teaching experience.

In her full and varied career as an actress she has enjoyed roles in Theatre, Film and Television. She has a diploma in Musical Theatre from LSMT at The Old Vic and a BA in Performing Arts from Middlesex University.

She most recently graduated from University of York with a Masters in Theatre: Writing, Directing and Performance for which she gained distinction and won the Outstanding Project Prize for Highest Achievement.
